Multi-Core Cable
PTFE Multi-Core cable is a versatile and high-performance electrical cable designed for various demanding applications. It features multiple cores, or individually insulated conductors, within a single cable assembly. The cores are constructed using Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a fluoropolymer known for its exceptional thermal, chemical, and electrical resistance.
The PTFE insulation offers excellent insulation properties even in extreme temperature environments, ranging from cryogenic conditions to elevated heat levels. This makes the cable suitable for applications in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical equipment, and industrial automation, where reliable signal transmission is critical.
Due to PTFE’s inherent non-stick and low-friction characteristics, these cables are also resistant to moisture, oils, and chemicals, enhancing their durability and longevity. The multi-core design allows for efficient transmission of various signals within a single cable, reducing clutter and simplifying installations.
Integra Insulations manufactures a standard line of PTFE insulated multi-conductor signal & control cables designed for extreme environments and rough usage. These are available as cable pairs or singles with optional overall braid shield or metallic foil with drain. This construction is widely used in aerospace and industrial applications requiring high reliability and ultimate physical and electrical performance.
Multi-core cables by Integra are rated as 600V ACRMS working from -65°C to +260°C as per MIL W-16878 type E or JSS-51034 with style reference as WH2P-14. The conductors are color coded with a choice of 10 standard colors. All cores/pairs are 7/19 stranded silver plated copper/NPC, planetary cabled and contra-helically laid for optimum flexibility with a sintered PTFE tape wrap over the bundle. Shielding is done either by SPC or SS or ABC conductors braided for 90% coverage. Jacketing over the shield is as per the customer’s requirement. Jackets available include PTFE tape, PVC and Varnished Fiberglass.
Before forming a cable, all the cores and conductors are tested as per the MIL-W-16878 type E or JSS-51034 standards.
